Character (or Nature)

 Character (or Nature)

Character is very important for everyone. The character of those chosen and set apart by God is also extremely important.

Life is determined by one's nature/character. How is your nature...??

(Genesis 39:7-12) "His master’s wife grabbed his garment and demanded, ‘Sleep with me!’ But he left his garment in her hand and fled and got out of the house."

  • It is a good trait to maintain a good character by refusing to steal even when presented with the opportunity.
  • It is a trait of faith and devotion to flee from sin out of the fear of God, even when there is an opportunity to commit sin.
  • Sometimes... we debase our status and individuality. We forget. We develop an obsession with what is not ours. Eventually, we collapse. Is this kind of situation necessary for us who are believers in God?
  • Every moment, we should look closely at our character every day; then our flaws will be visible to us.
  • When we stand in front of a mirror and look at our face, we see our face. Similarly, if we constantly examine our nature, our flaws will be visible to us. That is why you should examine your nature every day. If there are mistakes, be able to correct them.
  • When a thief is stealing... he has a lot of desire: What should I steal? How expensive should the things I acquire be? How should I enjoy the money I stole...? He has no other thoughts except these. If the thief thought about the future for just one moment, he would not steal, he would not become a thief, and he would not be called a thief. A thief will inevitably be caught, submit to the law, and suffer punishment. He becomes a thief and gets addicted to stealing precisely because this truth is not in his mind. If he did some self-examination and thought, "This stealing will destroy me and hurt others. Why should I live such a life?" he would not attempt to take others' belongings again.
  • Every day.... just as we cleanse our bodies, we must check how our character is. We must confess the mistakes within us in the presence of God and seek purification through morning prayers and repentance.
  • Only if you carefully guard your nature—you who are trained and chosen by God—will you be able to fulfill God's will for you. You will be shaped and useful as servants of God.

God chose Joseph. That is why his brothers became jealous and hateful towards him. They sold their own younger brother to foreigners. This is a pathetic life story in the Bible. Nevertheless, God blessed Joseph greatly. The works of God are very wondrous. We cannot predict how God will mold and use our lives. Therefore, we must always be prepared for God's will... and accept and live the life that God has given us with love, even if it is difficult or precious.

Joseph's master's wife tormented him greatly to commit sin with her. But Joseph did not corrupt his character. He did not let his nature be influenced by evil. He protected himself and was able to prevent his master's wife from committing sin. When protecting our character... we will have to endure unnecessary accusations. We must be able to entrust such accusations to God.

How many of us are protecting our nature, like Joseph, from becoming defiled?

Sin and evil deeds are only for a short time... eventually, they must be exposed.

These days, in a moment of passion, even those who are chosen fall into many works of Satan... get caught in Satan's illusion... and without thinking about the consequence... commit sin, make mistakes, steal, and turn their lives into a question mark...?? They themselves dishonor their lives, face humiliation, and are pointed at.

Everyone should cultivate a steadfast nature like Joseph. Then God will grant the same blessedness to everyone.

Everyone should ask themselves: What is my status? What is my situation? Should I act this way?? Should I behave like this?? Should I think like this?? Should I do this work?? If we ask these questions, there will be no scope for us to make any mistakes.

It is the mark of a believer in God that each person controls their own desires, cravings, and moments of impulse, and lives accordingly.

The work of Satan is to draw God's children away from God and away from God's will.

Therefore, do not succumb to temptations... do not fall victim to moments of impulse... do not defile your spirit and your body.... always remember your specialness and protect it. Make a continuous effort to live righteously, justly, and with purity.

One more reminder is this: Examine your nature and protect your character. Give value to the Spirit over the mind; the Spirit belongs to God, and the mind belongs to the body. Therefore, focus more on the thoughts the Spirit gives, and listen to what the Spirit says. Since the mind pleases the body, keep the mind under control. Base your character solely on the Spirit.

Then God will generously bestow His blessings upon you and use you according to His will.
